Almost Knit a Wee Sock

I pulled out sock needles, one of the scratchy down breed skeins I spun this summer, and my copy of the original Handspun, Handknit.  I followed the sock ornament pattern all the way to the toe but didn't Kitchener because I didn't like the shape of the foot.  I frogged it back to the leg.  So, no photo.  No first sock.

  1. When I first decided to try socks, I also turned to that book. I chose the pattern for ankle socks and it was very stressful. I hadn't been knitting that long, so I didn't quite understand what was supposed to be happening. And I can't say it was written with the frazzled beginner in mind. But they came out looking like socks (though not without errors). Since then I bought a really nice sock pattern book for my husband that is shaped like a sock. It's great for a first time sock knitter. I wish I'd had it "back then".

  3. Yep! That's the one. There's a great photo at the beginning that shows you each part of the sock in a different color. Helpful, fun, and informative!
