Added woad powder to enamel paint and got a good colour. The original glossiness turned flat from the powder. My brushwork is sloppy. It doesn't matter as it's a piece I'm assembling into a spindle to give away. Next time I tint paint I will add less powder so the paint stays runny. I did this in a hurry outside at dusk.
I am really curious about your woad. I am working with it right now with the pigment in encaustic. Iw as told and have researched that woad and indigo are almost identical... woad is an amazing colour. Where is your source for woad powder? i got mine from aiwa which in turn cam from lecture, France. Any information is helpful Kevin

Same, I bought the woad powder from Maiwa in Vancouver, who got it from Bleu de Lectoure in France.
DeleteBesides the differences between woad and indigo plants (where they grow, how concentrated the dyestuff is), I really do think the colour from woad looks different. It's subtle and maybe I've seen it most when wool or silk came out of the dyebath, but I prefer woad.
